How do I delete a course instance?

Course instances without enrollments can be deleted

If you haven't already, you'll need to make visible the Delete column on your view of the instance list. Do this by going to the gear icon in the top left corner. Select All or the Delete column specifically and Apply. 

Now looking at the instance list you should see a red X for any instance that can be deleted. Click the X to remove the instance. 

If an instance already has enrollment records, it can not be deleted. Instead, you'll want to change the instance into a Cancelled status and verify all the enrollments are marked in a complete or cancelled status.
